WW DT: End of Year Anything Christmas Goes Challenge

Dear Scrappers,

I chose the

Christmas Baubles, Digi Stamps, which is very celebratory of the end of the year.

I went looking for sketches to work with this image and found this one:

This challenge is a collaboration between two blogs, and I used the sketch and combined two different printed papers from the Tattered Lace magazine freebies, one is the stripped paper and the second I used mats for the digital image, with stripped stars in the same colors (yellow and dark red).

However, I did not make to post in time, so I was suggested to join the next challenge:

I guess my baubles are colorful enough and the card in general is mostly white.

For the digital image, I decided to use metallic red and gold pens, and when coloring with a red pen, it smeared a little bit.

Then, I used distress inks as watercolor media and the unexpected happened and the red/ gold ink smeared worse... so I worked around it and decided to with the mage a bluish background to blend my mistake some:

I used the matting die to cut the image and then used different distress inks and some HeroArts inks to color it. Then I traced the edges of the die cut unto a larger piece of printed blue cardstock to use as a mat. I fussy cut the blue mat and use the negative corners as part of the sketch embellishment.

I used foam squares to mount the die cut and some bakers twine to complete the look with this month's SCT Sampler sentiment die cut instead of the ribbon.

DT Winter Wonderland: Merriest Christmas

Dear Scrappers,

This is my June post for Winter Wonderland Challenge Blog:

I chose the Winter Chickadee for my card following this month challenge "Flying High at Christmas"

I used an sketch from try stampin on tuesday: challenge-558.

I colored the printed digital image with distressing inks using a watercolor brush for a soft look. Then I die cut a circular tag using the CTMH die, and distressed the edges using a gold ink. After it dried, I added some enamel dots to showcase the red fruits and snow flakes. For the rest of the fruit, I used red glitter paste after coloring them with red ink.

I attached the tag to a big red bow using gold twisty tie.

And cut the three different printed papers to assemble the card inspired in the sketch and attached my tag using foam tape and 3D dots for the bow.

Finally, I cut the sentiment I wanted from the Christmas washi tape and added it to the right bottom part of the card.

I really like the red and green color combination and the 3D feel of this card.

PWP DT: Bluebonnets and Butterflies Canvas

Hi Scrappers,

This is my post PWP, and the Aviary. I modified a Canvas kit from Quick Quotes with wings-cling-stamp-set, flowers-cling-stamp-set, and the wildflowers-cling-stamp-set:

	In short, I distressed the die cuts using the powder puffs mocha mama. I added some pearl watercoloring in shades of blue. Then, I added some stamped sentiments to the flourish die cuts and to the heart cut outs using powder puffs or distress oxide inks. For the butterfly die cuts, I stamped the wings using distress oxide. I also inked the edges of the canvas. The rest, I just followed the instructions of the kit. For more details, here is the SnapGuide with more instructions. Here some closeups: I love the details the butterfly wings stamps add to these die cuts. I also added some blue watercoloring to the big butterfly overlay. It blends everything together with bluebonnets in the pictures.

PWP April Blog Hop Watercoloring

For this blog hop, I wanted to finish a wall canvas, I have been working since a while. However, the pictures I wanted to display in this canvas didn't turn up as I wanted then, so now I have to wait one more day. I decided then, to compare different watercoloring techniques, e.g. pearl watercolors vs. my new favorite, distress crayon and using archival ink for the stamping or embossing on versa ink...

These are my results:

1. Archival and pearl watercolors (green), blue distress crayon.

2. Versa mark, dark purple embossing ink, and pearl watercolors (green), blue distress crayon.

3. heavy embossing and  blue and green distress crayon, yellow pearl watercolor.

Well, for me the best is combination of watercolors and distress crayons, and for archival vs. embossing, it would depend what i need the end result. For cutting out the image, it's best teh embossing, also for crispier image. The heavy embossing might be too much, but it would be cool for a fussy cut image.

Materials and steps in short:

1. I stamped the image using the versa mark and embossed with dark purple embossing powder. For the heavier effect, I kind of rocked the stamp a little bit and then heat embossed:

2. I stamped another cardstock using the archival ink:

3. I started watercoloring with the diluted crayons, but I wanted a more shimmer in my leaves, thus I used the pearl watercolors in green, yellow, and a little bit of dark copper for the steams:

I started coloring the leaves and steams first:

Then, I moved on to the blues, leaving the tips of each petal white:

I also played with the brush and some blue around the stamped image as a fussy background.

PWP DT: SPRING BURLAP PANNEL

Hi Scrappers,

Today I am sharing with you a burlap panel I made using the indian-blanket-cling-stamp and the wildflowers-cling-stamp-set sentiment, I made for PWP, please head here to see it: The Aviary.

	white tissue paper See my SnapGuide here, for steps by steps. In short, I stamped the Indian Blanket image using archival ink on tissue paper. I diluted some distress crayons with ModPodge instead of water and added to the burlap panel using a stencil for a colorful background. Then, I diluted some golden chalk also with ModPodge and added a faint border around the panel. When it was died, I added the stamped tissue paper to the panel using ModPodge and let it dry. Finally, colored the stamped image using the diluted crayons with ModPodge and a brush. To finish the look, I used a previously stamped specialty paper with the wildflowers sentiment and inked the edges of the fussy cut paper with golden chalk. I attached the sentiment to the panel using 3D zots.
