By the Sea altered book

Dear scrappers,
I wanted to share the beginning of an adventure I started with a friend (dear Ann).
She approached me with the great idea of doing an altered book for her parents for their anniversary. They went to a cruise ship to celebrate this big event :-) and came home with plenty of pictures and memorabilia...
We started by going to the half price books store to find an appropriated candidate for this adventure. This will be my first take at an altered book:
Ship
David MacAulay

This book has great graphics and potential. After we removed the book jacket with found this gets embossed ship in the back of the book, upsides own... Thus we went to work to cut remove the binding and rebind it upside down at the front and distress it to make it part of the book cover...

We added painter tape to frame the embossed ship and distress it without inking the whole cover. We used some Tim Holtz distress inks with an applicator...

We then diluted some Tim Holtz paint with water in a water mist-bottle and sprayed around the remaining craft colored cover...

Afterward we cut some Graphic 45 "By the Sea" paper borders to connect the binding and the new colored covers. Ann got really exited about burning off the edges to distress the papers, thus she got that job done ;-)

We added some distressed, inked, and glitzzed paper cut-outs to the front cover to highlight the distressed ship and cut the titled and burned the edges as well.

Ann loved the quote in the paper graphics, thus we used it as well.

We added some burlap scraps for framing one of the pictures for the back cover.

The rest of the album will follow later, I will keep you post it...
Have a great week,
Vicky

Easter Themed Burlap Canvas Class

Dear scrappers,
I had tons of fun today making the sample for my coming class this Wednesday at 10:30 am...

A friend of mine, Andrea, challenged me to make a class using some burlap canvas she got at Michaels in special, well, I did :-)
Here is the result. I got some modeling paste from Teresa Collins and her stencils, thus I decided to play with it and include it in this class:

I added some acrylic beige color to it and sponged some crystal blue ink from CTMH in some places...

I cut the bird, the house and the branch with the flowers using my new Cricut Explorer, which by the way I love!!!!!

I was able to cut and write at the same time, see the green leaves...

I got some old Easter embellishments I got in an exchange by mail long time ago and used along with some new ones I bought from Hobby Lobby...

I sponged some juniper ink (CTMH) to the already glued greenery... I used CTMH liquid glass to glue every piece because burlap is very porous and anything else didn't work as well...

I even added some wood fence, which I wanted to paint before hand, but decided against it last minute...
I left some parts of the canvas without the modeling paste on purpose to show the burlap through...
In the end, it was a great project, thanks Andrea for challenging me...
Have a very blessed week,
Vicky

Some old work

Dear scrappers
Today, I was organizing my playroom to accommodate my in laws visiting this weekend and came across some of my earlier work (5-6 years ago).
I hanged then finally on the walls and decided to share it with you.
The first one was a canvas I bought at CKU Houston, when I volunteered as a teacher aid. I finished much later though.

The second one is a clock and my first modge podge project. It was a kit that I got for helping a teacher at the only ScrapAganza held in Houston. At that time I didn't take a picture of the project, thus this design was very much my own.
As you could see in the close - up I experimented with gold leafing... and painted the cardboard numbers. The clock doesn't work, but I love how it turned out.
Please leave some comments and let me know if you enjoyed this fun projects...
Have a great spring break
Vicky

Lovely Acrylic Minialbum

Dear scrappers,
I made this album for a class that I though back on February 12...
I used the papers of the retired Dream Pop collection and from the January specials Cloud 9 CTMH papers and elements.

I tried to highlight more the teal tones to match one of students' wishes (she bought 2 kits for a bridal shower gifts).

I bought those pearl Jolee's hearts at michaels to make it more soft...

I used an acrylic album bought a while ago online and decorated the taps with some of the teal glitter trim, the negative of a cricut cut, and some gold polka dots washi tape from CTMH:

I used some pearl pens and blue glitter glue for accents.

I cut and distressed many cuts from the artbooking cmth cart. I used twilight inks and Tim Holzt distressing inks for the edges in blue and orange.
This cut had some notches for adding pictures, thus I highlighted it with gold pearl pen on one side and orange TH ink on the back...

I added some glitter glue hearts to the edges as well.

I'm in love with Artbooking cart overlays, thus I used two in this acrylic album. The hearts one is super cute. I added some glitter glue to the corner hearts as accents...

For the back I used a new paper wrinkler with heart motives... And distressed the risen hearts using the distresser kit from cmth...

I stamped a heart banner from the January SOTM in rust StazOn and blue Color Box's Surfacez inks.

Later, I added some envelops, which I distressed and changed the flap to match my theme. I added some orange using Smooch inks in the butterfly and a blank heart from the could 9 paper kit.

For the back I added an square with rounded corners and some of the elements from the cloud 9 kit.

I wasn't sure if wanted to add one more page, but decided to do it, when I stamped a hearts background using the hearts from the previously mentioned hearts banner using blue Color Box's Surfacez...

I added a risen glitter frame leaving space in the top to add a small picture. I punched some hearts out of the glitter trim and added to the frame and to a negative heart cut from the first page orange frame.

For the back, I overlapped two pieces of the embossed card stock and some washi tape. I added pearl pen triangles to the back of the cloud 9 elements in the bookmark...

For the last page, I used the tiger overlay and an stamped journaling block with glitter glue and smooch...

For the back I stamped a heart using the stamps included in the Artbooking cart. Kit.

The envelop was a later addition, details to come in my next post...

I hope you enjoyed this fun project as much as I did. Please post your comments and you are welcome add my pictures to Pinterest
Have a wonderful weekend,
